At the age of 18, I travelled to
Canada for my gap year, where I lived in a caravan and picked apples for a living. For my 19th birthday, while I was still in
Canada, my parents sent me $100 of which I spent $90 on my first camera, a very basic Nikon. I spent the next ten months travelling around California and South America exploring with my new found medium and building my confidence as a photographer.
For the next 15 years I travelled extensively around the world, covering over 40 countries taking pictures of people, places and landscapes...
In 1988 when I was back in London, I was invited to Paris to photograph the International Debutante Ball at the Crillon Hotel for OK Magazine. After a fabulous weekend, I was on the train back to London, where I was fortunate to be sitting next to
Andrew Yates, Editor of the London Times Diary. He asked to see my pictures, ended up buying two pictures and offered me my own page in the Sunday Times.
The page was called "Party of the week". Each week the page focused on a different party theme, social, political, literary or sports. It was hugely successful and I did this for 1 year. During this time I also did freelance work for OK Magazine, Hello, Tatler and Harpers and Queen. I also worked with the Daily Mail, The Evening Standard and the Sunday Telegraph.
Finally, after 8 years and many memorable experiences working for the various publications, I have decided to
specialize in travel photography and portraiture which was my original passion...
I am 45 yrs old and live in London where I work and exhibit my photographs. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to buy any of my photos or commission me for a project at home or abroad.
